Fundraising

  • Volleyball is an expensive sport. We are seeking sponsorship to help cover the cost of equipment, uniforms and travel expenses. If you know a company that might be interested in sponsoring us, please pass along our Sponsorship Flyer (found under resources), or contact us.

  • One of the most important fundraisers for our club is our annual Pub Night. Proceeds are used to offset travel and accommodation costs for all our teams, as they travel to compete in tournaments away from the Lower Mainland. A parent Pub Night committee is assembled at the beginning of the season and meets 2-3 times to organize the event.

Tickets are sold near the beginning of the season to parents and relatives. Each player is expected to sell 2-4 tickets each (note this is a 19+ event).

In addition to ticket sales, our online silent auction will run the night of the event and physical items will be showcased at the pub. Parent participation is integral in gathering items for the auction. You can find our auction request letter and donor form under resources in the footer of our website.

Our 2024 Pub Night will be held on February 23rd at Browns Lynn Valley. Tickets are now on sale here.

  • U14-U15 teams participate in our annual servathon. Each player sets out with a pledge sheet where the goal is to raise $200 per player from friends, extended family, door-knocking, selling baked goods, or whatever method the player comes up with. We ‘ve had some very creative means to raise money for servathon in the past and have seen it be both a great fundraising initiative for the club, as well as players taking ownership of the project.

The players then serve 100 serves in one practice, keeping track of every serve they make and miss. Some supporters pledge players for every made serve (for example 50 cents for every made serve, if the player gets 90 they would raise $45).

  • In the Spring (March-May), we run a Future Stars Youth League for girls in grades 6-10. With the help of our U16-U18 teams as junior coaches, this league is run by volunteer coaches and an excellent fundraiser for the club.

  • One of the Stars’ community fundraising projects is to volunteer for the Rotary Ride for Rescue. This is a bike ride up Cypress Mountain, starting at Mulgrave School. 100% of the funds raised through the ride support North Shore Rescue and other Rotary humanitarian projects.

In order to put on the Ride, the Rotary Club of West Vancouver needs volunteers. As a group, Stars is asked to provide at least 20 adult volunteers and some athlete volunteers to assist. If we are successful in obtaining 20 adult volunteers, the Stars will earn $5,000 for the club which is a tremendous opportunity that helps offset the costs for our athletes.

Volunteers are expected to attend at their scheduled time and communicate directly with the Rotary Ride organizers.
